 After watching countless shows on how to become an investor, I decided to take the plunge. I went online, got a letter, hired a realtor, and started looking at houses. I made an offer on one—and won! I thought that was the beginning, but it quickly turned into a nightmare. I found myself house poor and living in a situation far from what I had seen on HGTV. I had to move into the mess because I couldn’t afford both rent and the project.
